This is the last thing you make before bed. It takes four minutes. It has been the last thing before bed in Indian households for a very long time.
What You Need
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 tsp Sendriya Ashwagandha Root Powder
- A pinch of cardamom
- 1 tsp raw honey (added after the milk is off heat)
Method
Warm the milk in a small saucepan on low heat — do not boil. When steam begins to rise, add ashwagandha and cardamom. Stir well for 1–2 minutes until completely dissolved. Remove from heat. Wait until it is warm but not hot. Add honey and stir. Drink before bed.
Nani's note: Do not boil. Ashwagandha is heat stable, so the active compounds (withanolides) survive, but boiling milk changes the texture and is unnecessary. Warm milk is enough.
Why This Works
Ashwagandha is classified as a Rasayana in Ayurveda — a tonic for vitality and longevity. Modern research has documented its effects on cortisol levels, stress response, and sleep quality through multiple randomised controlled trials. The fat in milk supports absorption of fat-soluble compounds. Taken at night, it works while you sleep. The effects accumulate over consistent use — plan for 6–8 weeks before assessing impact.
